wearing now :: in Maldives

My five days vacation in Maldives was truly a fantastic experience. For someone, who is not exactly a big fan of the beaches, I was won over hands down. The lush greenery and great tropical weather was almost too perfect (it didn't even rain once) - I was all clad in my summer outfits.

I wore this red soft, sheer translucent kaftan dress as a quick cover up whenever I just got out of the waters in my bikini. I love the colour of this dress and that it was the practical solution in the beach. Its light material dried really quickly just nice to enjoy a cool Magnum ice cream after wading in the clear waters.

I will always bring this now whenever I hit the beaches.

The moment I knew that I was going Maldives, my head was already busy with ideas appropriate for beach wear. I was really loving bright, loose and tropical prints trend that summer season offered and immediately planned out what I will wear for the next couple of day. The only accessories I wore to the beach were my sunnies, my floral hair ponytail and my straw hat. I simply adore my straw hat to bits which was given by a lovely friend.

When it comes wearing outfits & styles, I turn to become an eager beaver.

What is a summer outfit without the white summer dress? Though a shorter white summer dress would be ideal at the beach, the square-like patterned eyelets on this white dress gave it its uniqueness and really appreciate how comfortable and "breathable" it felt even on a hot sunny day.

I am so grateful for this experience to be able to travel here and enjoy the real beauty and goodness the other part of the world had to offer. It was truly an eye-opener for a city girl like me. I had been to beaches in Singapore, but this one truly defines the ultimatum.

Thank you.

fashion focus :: national day ensemble

 Happy 48th Birthday, Singapore!

Living in this small but diverse island for all my growing up years (I came from Philippines, by the way), I have affectionately grown to call this island my home.

I have had the best moments here - from happy school years, my lovely friends, & the list goes on.....

And to commemorate this day for all the memories I have cherished growing up here, I dedicated a work outfit for the day -with one of the national colours - red.

Since Singapore flag is essentially represented by two colors as shown here, I played with fire brick red and navy blue. These two colors match compliment each other to create a preppy chic look.

I didn't want to look like walking flag with red and white outfit.

I love how the dots on my navy skirt gave the look its playful punch. I have added gold details in my accessories and pearl rings to the outfit add to its chic factor. My accessories were minimal to suit a work appropriate outfit.

TGIF :: Stripes & Roses

Happy Friday!

Loving these oriental bangles from F21

 Went shopping with my sister Rachel today at Forever 21, Mango, Zara & H&M.

These are the stores I frequently shop at to get my wardrobe some clothes-lovin'.

The stores were all having end-of-season sale and summer style pieces can go off at 70%. I don't really shop too often now due to my 8 to 5 job schedule which can be a good thing, right?

Tried on some outfits from the stores to see how they would fit me. Normally for F21, I would get clothigns with size XS or S. As for Mango, I would go for size US '0' or '2' and as for H&M, I would settle for size 32.

loving and bought the vintage rose top
but I had to pass the nautical stripes
shorts as it was too loose on me :(

the texture for this midi is really soft and comfy which is an ideal
to-go-to dress I can use for travelling; so yes,
I bought it :D

Casual style aside, I went to look for work outfits. I love the colour combination on the picture below but F21 'S' size apparently still runs loose on me. Did not purchase this as I didn't want to risk buying something again that just won't fit me or I'm just gonna have to give away.

Coral top against blue oriental prints

I bought a new pair of nude shoes and brown sandals from Charles & Keith since they were on sale too. Love the feeling of getting a good bargain!

Didn't manage to see anything nice from the other 3 stores (Mango, Zara & H&M) so we headed for Japanese dinner and went home.

 Happy weeekend!
